Work at Home Mom Finds Great
Home-Based Career Creating Lasting Impressions

How you, too, can find a rewarding
work at home job that brings you
satisfaction and contentment.

By Cyndi Chambers for Work-at-Home.org

If you're a parent, you know the feeling you get when you hold your newborn in your arms and nothing else matters… She gazes into your eyes, she wraps her hand completely around your finger. I remember all the emotions I felt, wanting time to stand still if only for a day, just so I could delight a little longer in this small bundle of joy.

Working at home now, with all the technological advances and power of the internet, is much easier than decades ago when we would have been more isolated when we were in our homes. Now, almost anyone can create a home-based career that they find rewarding, and still enjoy the benefits of having flexible hours, being able to control your own income, and being available for the things you consider important, like family.

You have wonderful talents and abilities that you've probably never taken inventory of. It's your time! Like I’ve done, you can create your own exciting and rewarding work at home job by taking inventory of your skills and experiences, getting in touch with something you feel passionate about and then building a business around it!

When my husband and I were blessed with our daughter, my passion for keeping memories alive went off the charts! My own personal experiences and interests included always having been a great fan of scrap booking, journaling and photography; basically anything that has memory value. When our daughter was born in 1991, I ventured out to find the perfect way to preserve her little hand and foot impression.

Disappointed in what was available in the stores, I began researching different types of materials and their methods to create my own perfect keepsake. I enrolled in night classes at the city college which helped me to learn about clay mediums and different forms. After months of trial and error, lots of enthusiasm, and many hand prints later, my business was born. What an incredible thrill to capture all the features and details in her sweet little fingers and toes … priceless!

I have had the extreme pleasure of sharing this amazing business with hundreds of parents and grandparents who desire to keep the memory of their precious child's hand and feet impressions. It has been a real blessing to be able to have a home based business in which I am completely on the same level as my customer.

Even my work creates joy, as well as financial reward.

There have been many appointments in which both myself and my customer changed diapers. Try doing that in a big office somewhere.

In my case, my customers come to my home. It is so very important to make your customer feel comfortable and welcome, particularly when you are inviting them into your home. I have a designated area that is both child friendly and fun. Because my business is one on one and personalized, I have the opportunity to spend valuable time with my customer, with full attention given to her. It is such a treat for me to help the customer in their decision making. I always have dozens of samples on my display wall that shows the customer what

colors, sizes, combinations and writing sentiments she can choose from. I have found that when you touch the “heartstrings” or the emotions of a parent toward her child, you have connected with something that is strong and it makes for a great business. And at the same time a successful business cannot rely alone on a

superior product. This can work for awhile, but as a business owner you are never alone in your field, even if you are specialized. What are you offering your customers that is unique? What would your customers say about you as a person? What about customer service and time availability, monthly specials, pricing and packaging? For me, while it is imperative that I produce a high quality hand impression, it is equally important that I leave the customer with a great impression of myself and my business ethics.

As home based business owners, we have a great advantage given us in the mere fact that we can really connect. Don't we all want to be given special attention? I always want to hear what my customer is saying and pick up on things that will let her know I care; because I do! And that has its own rewards. It's a really good feeling to know that you are helping others create memories that are going to last a lifetime, and what better way to do that than through our children.

By the way, you know those catchy tag lines or phrases that companies use to connect you with their product? A couple of good ones are “Good to the last drop” and “Have it your way”. My business tag line is “We leave you with a great impressiontm” and that is always what I strive to do! I hope my work at home story can help you get in touch with your past experiences, skills, talents and passions, and help you find a great home business that will be as rewarding for you as mine has been for me.
