Easy Ways To Score Some Cash

by Rebecca Vassar for Work-at-Home.org

Many work at home careers can benefit from an influx of cash on the side, especially if you're just getting started. Here are a few wonderful ideas for earning extra cash as a perfect complement to the work at home lifestyle.

Garage Sales or Internet Auctions

Now is the perfect time for selling any items you just never used or no longer have use for. People are spending more money these days at thrift shops and second hand stores than they are at the local retailer. Gather your items together, wash/iron any clothing you wish to sell (especially if you are selling it online and needing pics) Items that are presented in a neat orderly way sell twice as fast! Don't forget any collectibles or antiques you might have. My parents just this past week made over $600 on EBay selling antiques they have had just sitting around.

Internet auctions do take a downturn for the summer since people tend to spend a lot of time outdoors, or on vacation, away from their computers. Take advantage of the summer season to both sell your items and buy new items you can sell online in fall and winter.

If you opt for a garage sale, one of the best things you can do is invite your neighbors to join you on the same weekend if they can.

Neighborhood garage sales attract a lot of attention (and people too!)

Consignment Shops

As previously noted, people are spending more money at thrift stores and second hand shops these days, so a great place to make a little extra cash is right there. Once again, wash and iron any clothing you plan to take, and don't get disappointed if one shop can't take your items. Chances are another shop in town will be glad to take them. You can get ahead of the game by simply making a few phone calls to all the shops in town and finding out what type of clothing they are currently taking. They will also be more than happy to tell you the condition the clothing needs to be in to be considered acceptable. This will cut down on your chances of being turned away.

Cell Phones and Computers

I have had great success with this method of making a little extra money.

There are sites on the net that will pay you for your old broken used cell phones, Ipods and computers. All of us have old cell phones (some of us have five or more!) and many as well have an old computer or laptop lying around. The great thing is, these companies send you the packaging to put your item in, and the postage is PAID, so all you have to do is drop your item in the package, seal it and send it on its way.

Usually within 14 days you have a check in the mail. A good company I have used at least 10 times is www.flipswap.com. They promise to plant a tree for every phone they get. One of my friends makes great money this way. She took a bunch of boxes that once held reams of paper, and put some nice signs on them. She took the boxes to the local daycares and offices in town and asked them to help keep the environment safe by filling the boxes with old cell phones. She convinced them to keep the nice professional looking box out where others would see what it was for. She empties the boxes once a month, and makes about $3000 a month! Just sending in old used cell phones! You can do the same thing. No business is going to turn down saving the planet these days. You could do the same for laptops as well. A good place to check out is www.laptopsintocash.com. These companies dispose of this electronic equipment properly or rebuild it to reuse.

Ink and Toner

This is the same thing as the cell phones/laptops. There are companies out there that recycle the ink and toner cartridges we use by the hundreds. One such company is www.advantagecartridge.com. They pay GOOD money for used ink cartridges and toner. The same thing can be done as the article above suggests. You can go around and leave boxes to be filled with used ink and toner cartridges. Once a month you can go around and empty all the boxes, then simply send in what you have accumulated, and wait for your check to arrive. This is such a fun an easy way to make money!

Jewelry(Gold)

Ok, all of us have seen the commercials on TV advertising cash for your gold jewelry. Gold is worth a lot these days, and if you have any gold jewelry, you can cash in on the "Gold Rush" that is taking place right now. Just go to the site, order a kit (it comes to you free) then put your unwanted items in the package and ship it off. You get a check within a few short weeks. Some people are taking it a step further, and having "Gold Parties". You host a party, you ask your friends to come with their unwanted gold, and they will be given a check that night for their jewelry. The jewelry can be tested for carat content and weighed. Depending on the ounce-cost of gold that day, guests can walk away with hundreds or even thousands of dollars. The party host pays them with cash or a check, then ships the gold to a refinery, where it is melted down and recycled. The refinery then pays the host — at a price higher than paid out to guests, the host hopes. You can get a Host Kit for $699 at www.mygoldparty.com. Or you can simply just go to www.cash4gold.com and order a prepaid envelope to send in your own gold.

Hopefully you have seen something here that can help you bring in a little extra cash to help the money last longer than the month. Happy Summer and best wishes to all your money making endeavors!
